Woods Humane Society does not accept or place any animal into its adoption program
that displays or possesses any of the following:

  1. A known and/or documented human bite history, any bite that has resulted in the minimum of breaking and/or severe bruising of the skin
  2. Feral or un-socialized animals
  3. Wolves, coyotes, hybrids or any determined mix of these animals
  4. Evidence at the time of assessment and/or documented history of hostile behavior toward humans and/or other animals
  5. Evidence at the time of assessment (no higher than a level 5) and/or a documented history of severe food aggression and/or resource guarding towards humans or other animals
  6. A known and/or documented history of attacking any animal 8 pounds and over in weight with either serious injury or death resulting, to include but not limited to dogs and cats
  7. Physical deformities, diseases, or infections that affect the quality of life and/or cause a significant degree of discomfort that is not reasonably manageable through the Society’s means of care
  8. Infections that pose a human health risk and/or a high risk of infecting the adoptable and/or treatable animal population
  9. Animals taking prescribed medications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. The animal’s owner must provide documented proof, a copy of the animal’s complete veterinary file/history, that a medication protocol has been established, regulated, and maintained under veterinary file/history, that a medication protocol has been established, regulated, and maintained under veterinary care.
  10. Animals under the age of 8 weeks and over the age of 12 years will be evaluated and placed for adoption on a case-by-case basis with the current adoption population status to be considered in conjunction with all other listed criteria
  11. Pit Bull: At any given time the adoptable canine program will consist of a maximum of 10% Pit Bull or Pit Bull Mix breed dogs available for adoption
